What a day

Today is my last day of medical school. It seems somewhat anticlimactic. All I can think about is the 85 things I need to do before residency in order:

1. Garage sale
2. England trip with Jonny
3. Apt hunting in Denver (14 hour drive one way)
4. Multiple weddings but sadly not my own
5. Graduation
6. Last visit with endocrinologist
7. 27th birthday
8. Moving
9. Residency orientation

And the most important of all, spending quality time with my friends and family and godchildren. I do love you all.

How bittersweet.

Things I cannot live without

Since I know I am moving so soon, I have been constantly examining and re-examining what I need and what will go to the garage sale. Oddly enough, I have focused on the kitchen as I am a kitchen slut. I decided to sell my huge 64 spice rack because I never used most of them and honestly, ground spices lose their potency so quickly.

In that vein, I have identified several spices that I cannot live without:

1. Sea salt and freshly ground pepper
2. Tony Chachere's: seriously, the best spice in the cabinet.
3. Ground ginger: you need so little to give anything a big kick

Drank™

This is a review of Drank, the anti-energy beverage. For basic info about it, you can go to http://drankbeverage.com, where you will be regaled with an autoplay video which contains the headline "Open a Can of Drag-ass."

It was that particularly thoughtful headline that really made me take the plunge of ordering a case of "The Anti-Energy Drink." After several weeks of careful experimentation, I have quite a few points to make:

25 THINGS

I've had a thought. Those who have been my friends for a long time have no trouble with the fact that I am terrible at phones. I am terrible at answering them, returning them, listening to messages. And the reason is that I'VE ALWAYS BEEN THIS WAY. I used to answer the phone as a teen with: "is this important?" When it really comes down to it, I don't chat.

I think the phone actually gives me a little anxiety. So now you know. Really, really the best way to get in touch with me is by text. Text has been my salvation.

Peace doggues

Mindkiller

I am lying bed with either a bad cold or a mild flu. I am listening to music that is new to me, and therefore I cannot determine if I really enjoy it or not. I am such a creature of habit that even new songs mildly offend me until I become accustomed to them.

Fear. I've been reading "Zen Habits", and they spoke of fear today. Not just fear of the dark or scorpians, but fear of projects, fear of being overweight, fear of clutter, fear of relationships. And I think they are right.

Awesome? The Answer Is Yes

Words can't do justice, so take a look at the cover.

This is the future of postmodern literature.

I firmly believe my life cannot possibly get any better

In the past month, I've gotten engaged, gotten a major promotion, and now this: http://dc2009.drupalcon.org/news/and-winner-free-drupalcon-dc-ticket-isj...

Truly, I'm the luckiest guy I know. This is a world in which Barack Obama is soon-to-be-President and in which a plane can land on the Hudson. What a great world it is.

J'adore

Anyway, have a nice day!

A surprisingly progressive debate in the heart of Arkansas

I just got back from the debate described here: http://lanceturner.wordpress.com/2008/12/09/tonight-a-watershed-moment-i...

And came away pleased with the results.

John Brummett is, of course, completely right in calling the Choose Your News feature a gimmick; on the other hand, Kristin Fisher did have a brilliant idea when she decided to livestream the news-gathering process.

We DI DIT!

Literally 2 seconds after we left Copper Grill, Obama got 297 electoral votes.

SPREAD THE WEALTH.
