a quick Linux Mint 5.0 review

I'm really, really impressed with this distribution. It's got a few small improvements over 4.0, most notably in the size of the Software portal its Mint Install uses, but what really caught my attention was that my wireless card (a Broadcom of the sort that won't work with the 43xx and is essentially cranky to the extreme until I've fooled with ndiswrapper for about an hour) worked without touching the command line. Thanks, Restricted Drivers Manager!

Sure, there's no doubt that's actually the work of the Ubuntu devs, but still--it's good to have wireless up and running ASAP.

Computers may save time but they sure waste a lot of paper. About 98 percent of everything printed out by a computer is garbage that no one ever reads.

Elephants and grandchildren never forget.

When those waiters ask me if I want some fresh ground pepper, I ask if they have any aged pepper.

tassajara

I've been trying to figure out where we're going for a two-week vacation right after The Girl graduates. We've tossed around Jamaica and the Phillipines and backpacking across Europe, but it's looking more and more like the best choice is closer to home: a retreat at Tassajara.

No Difference: Compassion and Freedom is one of the retreats/workshops they offer. If they have something awesome like that in the works a little bit closer to when we're going, I'm definitely signing on.

So as it turns out.

I have the best bf in the world.

One of the soundest ideas of all time

The Girl pointed out to me the other day that lots of rude driving would be eliminated if the potential rude driver would take the time to think about how it would feel to be on the receiving end.

This is true of many things.
